Grassington to Hubberholme

6. Grassington to Hubberholme (24 miles return to Buckden and Hubberholme with 13 mile shorter option to Kettlewell ) -This is in fact a back road not often used by road traffic which passes through Conistone. Apart from two slight hills and a few undulations the route is nearly level. There is then the opportunity to continue to Buckden and Hubberholme. The road between Kettlewell and Buckden is a little busier but normally not too bad.

We start from the main Grassington Car Park (Tourist Centre - pay and display) and proceed toward the village centre taking the right hand turn after the road to the square. Then it is straight on to Kettlewell with and intermediate stop at Conistone or slight diversion to the fish farm at Kilnsey on the return.

If the trip is going well the route can be extended to Starbotton, Buckden and Hubberholme (24 miles return for the latter) although the road does get slightly busier but not too bad as the traffic has noticeably thinned out.  The riverside at Hubberholme makes a pleasant place to stop for lunch.

Other possibilities are the cafe at Buckden and pubs at Kettlewell, Starbotton, Buckden, Cray and Hubberholme. We took 4 hours to complete the trip to Buckden with several stops and visit to the fish farm at Kilnsey
